Elon Musk’s transgender daughter has reportedly completely parted ways with the billionaire after years of anti-trans comments.
The former richest man in the world reportedly told his biographer, Walter Isaacson, that his relationship with his eldest daughter, Jenna, had reached a breaking point after she cut off all communication with him.
According to Isaacson, the owner of X – formerly Twitter – was “generally optimistic” when he learned of his eldest daughter’s infection through the grapevine, but was reluctant to completely sever ties with her. His decision has caused him “pain”.
According to Business Insider, Isaacson said Musk partly blames his schooling at Crossroads, a private Los Angeles school that the Tesla boss accused of teaching “absolute communism.”
“She went from socialism to a full-fledged communist and started thinking that any rich person is bad,” said Musk, who sued an anti-hate group for commenting on the rise in hate speech on X. He was threatened with murder, told his biographer. “She doesn’t want to spend time with me.”
The decision to change his daughter’s name made global headlines in June 2022, when court documents confirming the name change were picked up by news publications.
Jenna’s mother, Justine Wilson, took to Twitter at the time to applaud her child for showing the courage to come out.
In the tweet, he referred to a conversation between himself and Jenna, in which his daughter said: “I had a weird childhood. I can’t believe I’m supposed to look as normal as I am.
When Kilson replied: “I’m so proud of you”, his daughter said she was proud of herself.
The relationship between Musk and his daughter was revealed to be strained in 2022 when the Financial Times reported that Musk called their relationship an “alleged takeover of elite schools and universities by neo-Marxists”.
He said, “It’s complete communism… and there’s a general feeling that if you’re rich, you’re bad.”
When asked in October 2022 about his relationship with his daughter, he said that things may change, but that he has a good relationship with “everyone else”.
Musk said, “Can’t win them all.”
In addition to the skyrocketing of hate speech at X under his leadership, Musk has made several anti-trans comments from his personal account, including echoing far-right dogwhistles and saying that “pronouns are useless”.
Since completing its purchase of Twitter in October 2022, there has been a mass exodus of advertisers from Twitter due to Musk’s often chaotic decision-making and reinstatement of controversial accounts.
