Global (reinsurer) Canopius has entered the domestic US excess casualty market on Canopius US Insurance Company paper and appointed Jude DiBattista as US head of excess casualty.
“This initiative underscores Canopius’ commitment to expanding its footprint in the U.S. insurance sector and enhancing its casualty capabilities,” Canopius said in a press release shared with Insurance Business.
The insurer will focus on commercial risks with a “special approach” to specific sectors including construction, commercial real estate, hospitality, manufacturing and technology.
“The E&S Extras Casualty market has become one of the fastest growing markets in the insurance industry and this rapid growth has provided an opportunity for Canopius to enter the market and offer a specialist solution to our clients,” said Laurie Benez, head of Canopius. Casualties, US and Bermuda.
“Under Jude’s leadership, we will deliver underwriting excellence and innovative risk-based solutions for our wholesale distribution partners.”
DiBattista named to lead additional casualty search of Canopius
DiBattista has over thirty years of experience in Casualty E&S, most recently serving as GuideOne VP of E&S Casualty. Over the past decade, he has also held senior roles at Nationwide, QBE and Aspen.
