Say what you will about AMC and its endless commitment to The Walking Dead, but they are one of the few TV companies that have actually managed to work with SAG-AFTRA to some degree, where a new deal is being negotiated. has now given them permission to do so. Temporarily move on from the strikes and resume filming of your most important shows.
The show Daryl Dixon, a France-set spin-off that airs soon and has already been renewed for season 2, The Ones Who Live, Rick and Michonne show that has been filmed but is in post-production is, and the third one isn’t The Walking Dead, it’s Interview with the Vampire, the flagship show of AMC’s extended Anne Rice-based universe.
The settlement is interim, and it’s only for these three shows, even though they’re AMC’s biggest shows, because things like Mad Men, Breaking Bad, and Better Call Saul no longer exist. It’s not a deal with the entire network for everything they do indefinitely.

We’ve seen some of this happen with individual shows and movies, though deals are few and far between and often represent specific situations rather than broad deals made with entire networks or streaming services like this one. Are. Though to feature three of AMC’s biggest shows as exceptions is a pretty cool feat. Before all this here is what AMC said on the earnings call:
“We greatly value the work of our creative partners and hope that these disputes can be resolved as quickly and fairly as possible. In the short term, the reality for AMC Networks is that we have a pipeline of shows ready which will allow us to continue serving our audience across all of our platforms through the remainder of this year and into 2024.”
One of those ready-made shows is Daryl Dixon, where its six-episode first season will begin airing on Sept. 10. I’ve seen it all, but I guess the ban won’t end until next week, so I can’t talk. about it yet. Interestingly, Negan and Maggie’s Dead City was renewed for season 2, but that’s not included in the deal here. I believe the difference here may be that both Interview With The Vampire and Daryl Dixon are filming in Europe, while the Dead City movies are filming in New Jersey.
There is still no end in sight to the writers’ and actors’ strike, as studios continue to fail to negotiate effectively, although offers keep pouring in. Nothing yet, but the longer this goes on, the longer the drought of content will be when everyone runs out of shows they’ve already made. Exceptions such as here are only a small fraction of the total output that is delayed indefinitely.
