Earlier this offseason, Jaguars GM Trent Baalke told reporters that he expects Robinson will be back with the team in 2024. Maybe it was a lie, or maybe the team feels like it will rely on Robinson for several years to come.
Either way, the Jaguars have to do something with Robinson’s contract.
By releasing or trading the lineman, they’d save $17,279,412. An extension or a restructure could also drop his $21,909,041 salary cap number.
Jacksonville might not want to make a commitment one way or another. The team has a somewhat delicate situation at offensive tackle with Walker Little heading into a contract year and it could be interested in letting the situation play out before making a choice in 2025. That’d be a decision that costs the Jaguars a significant amount of savings, though.
